Today is the 89th day of the year
Frank Zappa once said:
The creation and destruction of harmonic and 'statistical' tensions is essential to the maintenance of compositional drama. Any composition (or improvisation) which remains consistent and 'regular' throughout is, for me, equivalent to watching a movie with only good guys in it, or eating cottage cheese.

My experience of Amsterdam is fleeting. Just one day, but I want to go back!
There's, only so much you can see in a hurry, so you have to be picky. In my case I went for the culture, so the main item on the agenda was the Rijksmuseum. Like the Louvre in Paris, the place is a wondrous mix of the old and the contemporary. There weere some great buskers (violin, accordion and a big bass balalaika) playing a storming rendition of Vivaldi's Four Seasons. And the walk through the city, through the narrow, tall streets was a treat, even if you do spend lots of time avoiding trams and cyclists.
Another unexpected treat was a nice moment of street theatre in Dam Square, courtesy of a performaer called Crystal Ball Paul, a "full body fakhir". However, like in London, there's still an inexplicable queue to go in Tussauds...
Just not enough time to do all the things!
